We finally got hold of a Padfone Infinity sample!

Asus HQ decided that Padfone Club should get a Padfone Infinity to review for you guys!

Of course, a decent review takes some time, so that's why I opened this topic in the meantime because I know that some of you might have some special requests for info, video's and pictures.

The unit I have is a 32GB International model running Android 4.1.2 (JZO54K.WW_PadFone-10.6.8.1-0)

I'll post replies with the answers to your questions, but also update this post, so please read this entire post first before you ask anything.

Does it feel snappier when in phone mode compared to when it's in tablet mode?

Also, how's the tablets and the phones speakers? What's your subjective opinion on volume and quality?

1. When you play a game and switch from phone to tablet mode is the game crash?
2. What is the ppi of the Station?
3. How resistant the phone's battery when heavyy and when in tablet (again when loaded)?
4. What is the storage for apps and for files on this version?
5. When play film and put the phone to station is the film stops where they get?
6. Is the phone overheats?
7. Is the phone in station mode overheats?
8. Any lag when play games in station mode?
9. Any lag when play games without staiton?
10. Any problems with WiFi/3G/4G in Station mode?
11. Gyroscope works properly in station mode(do not have much to be rotated left and right for example to turn right or left the car on game)?

There's no difference in "snapiness" in phone or tablet mode... in fact, I don't know how it can get any better... It's very fluent in multitasking... More details about the performance will be in the full review... I have some ideas to show you guys how far you can push this device

The tablet speaker is pretty nice, very loud, and a pretty rich sound... The phone speaker does also have some pretty rich sound, but it is not very loud, so the volume could've been a bit better imho...

It depends on the game, some games crash, some games switch nicely, some games don't switch properly... I would like to point you to our DDS List. This list contains info about the Dynamic Display Switching capabilities of several aps and games...

2. What is the ppi of the Station?
Resolution is 1920×1200 so the ppi is 224.

3. How resistant the phone's battery when heavyy and when in tablet (again when loaded)?
It's too early to say something about the battery imo, I have it for 2 days and only fully charged it twice. You'll find this in my review...

4. What is the storage for apps and for files on this version?
Like I mentioned it's a 32GB model, take a look at the screenshots yourself:

As you can see, the entire 32GB are used for apps!

5. When play film and put the phone to station is the film stops where they get?
If you dock or undock the phone, the movie/video your watching keeps playing without any problems or delay...

6. Is the phone overheats?
I've never had it "overheat", but it does get pretty warm while playing Real Racing 3... But every phone does have this, you're using a lot of power while playing such high-end games...

7. Is the phone in station mode overheats?
Same story as above...

8. Any lag when play games in station mode?
Both, phone ant tablet are the same... More details on performance will be in my review...

9. Any lag when play games without staiton?
Again, same story as above...

10. Any problems with WiFi/3G/4G in Station mode?
WiFi is very stable as well as 3G while in phone mode, but also when in tablet mode...

11. Gyroscope works properly in station mode(do not have much to be rotated left and right for example to turn right or left the car on game)?
Yes, all sensors including the gyroscope work properly!

I was thinking maybe if you've held an HTC One you noticed it's very slippery, is the Infinity as slippery as the One? Also could you measure how far it is between the display and the edge of the phone? Just to see how big the bezel is. On the PadFone 2 the bezel was 5,2mm.

I also noticed you got your Infinity exactly one year after you bought your PadFone, isn't that a funny coincidence?

The phone is not slippery, when I use it in one hand I can easily toss it around in one hand to reach for something on the screen (since the screen is 5", my thumb can't reach everything)...
I'll try to compare it some time when I'm in a phone store...

I don't really have anything to measure the bezel with, and I don't have a Padfone 2 to compare it to... I'll see if I find something to measure it with

But it's pretty thin compared to the screen size...

And yes, those dates are the dates of when I actually received them, and they're both on the same date

How to create screenshots with Padfone Infinity? Does the kit have stylus? Is there a way to change the settings skin color, because all other is dark/black but the settings are light/white? Can you shoot video and picture in full HD quality with the phone and post it here? And can you create some pictures with the front camera of the phone and station and post it here?

Either by holding the app-switch button, or by holding the power and volume down keys together.

2. Does the kit have stylus?
There is no stylus included, also no additional settings for the stylus headset.

I don't think so, haven't seen an option for that...

4. Can you shoot video and picture in full HD quality with the phone and post it here?
That will be part of my review, I've already shot some pictures and some video's, and I will post the original files straight from the phone in my review for you to be downloaded...

I saw your comment on the newspost...

The original file is way better (shot it with my pf1 in 1080p), I don't know why YouTube messed it up :S

When you carry your phone in your pocket and it has keys, the screen and the phone will scratch it?

Yeah YouTube sometimes does that. I don't know how to fix it though. How's the 4G connection on the Infinity?

The phone itself does have corning gorilla glass, so it won't scratch...

I was planning on taking the Infinity for a run tomorrow morning (depending on the weather of course) using My Tracks to see how accurate it will track me...

I've installed GPS Test, I'm not sure what you want to know of it...

The screenshots below are taken from inside my home which is pretty well isolated due to low flying planes in the past (not anymore)... I've seen GPS system struggle, but this one does a good job...
