Ive tried my phone with a new Sony TV yesterday, but somehow didnt manage to solve it.
The NFC is turned on, and both the TV and Phone reacts to each other, but nothing happens after this. The TV writes, that i should keep holding the phone there, since it is not yet recognised, and the phone just writes that it has collected the NFC tag...
With some xy sony phone it was working without problems :s
NFC screen mirroring to Sony TV's are only supported together with select Sony Xperia mobiles - its not a general implementation for any NFC capable phone. It wont work with any other phones. Also note that it is not NFC that does the mirroring, the Mirroring is done using Miracast technology (WiFi direct), NFC only do the pairing between the devices.
NFC mean Near Field Communication - its only designed to communicate between devices within 10cm. NFC itself cannot mirror the screen.
In other words the mobile devices needs to both support NFC and Miracast, and it needs to be a model accepted by the TV - which is only select Sony Xperia phones
No, it doesnt work with "galaxy phones" in general
Sony says only Xperia phones are supported, but it MAY work with other phones - but there are still demands that these phones support both NFC and Miracast which is used for the wireless display transfer. Thus it will definately not work with "galaxy phones" in general, but may work with for instance the S3 which are Miracast certified.
Miracast are only supported natively by Google from Android version 4.2 - Padfone 2 only has 4.1 so unless Asus has implemented support for Miracast in some other way, then the Padfone 2 wont work.
And is none of the bloatware preinstalled by asus capable of this?
Did you read the comment at all? He is saying that this is limited to some Xperia phones. And if you would have looked at the specifications of the Padfone 2 you would have noticed that there is NO miracast support implemented. It's not only a software wise adjustment if I am not mistaking.
