I actually really like the new update. I think the UI is great. I also have some flickering when scrolling long web pages but it's not that noticable.
One really annoying thing tho is that the max volume when using headphones is really low. It's loud and good with the internal speaker and also when connecting to bluetooth speakers, but when using headphones it's quite low actually.
Anyone else having this issue?

I have noticed this also and there is no way to switch this functionality off - you can turn the sound higher using the switch on the side of the phone and it will come with a warning to say "be careful of your hearing etc.) but if you say OK to this, you can increase the sound as per the levels in the old firmware.

Would be nice if the user could do away with the warning though

OMG, thank you for this!
Too bad out Padfones are not informing us about new firmwares

PadFone2 Firmware: V11.8.4.6 Only for WWE SKU (Android 4.4)
Improvemant:
1. Fix tearing while scrolling the photos or articles
2. Fix the sound to become smaller occasionally after inserting headphones
3. Fix image quality issue while taking a photo in the dark place
4. Fix photo with green stripes occasionally while recording and then taking a snap shot
5. Fix ringtone to be displayed "none" while the default alarm tone was set (Deep)
6. Add Polaris Office
7. Add PC Link

Fixed tearing, fixed low sound, fixed low quality of dark images, and added Polaris (I was just dowloading it )
Great job ASUS!

These are indeed great news, good job asus! But i discovered one more bug. I'm not sure if anyone of you are experiencing it but when the screen (or parts of the screen) is dimmed down, the backlight flickers.

However the update did the trick with all the issues after kitkat update.

I have problem in upgrading my Padfone2, the firmware is WWE,

Any one can give me a piece of advice regarding how to upgrade my padfone2 device to android 4.4, while I followed the procedure as per SOP manual which is guided on http://support.asus.com/
So far, I downloaded PadFone2 Firmware: V11.8.4.6 for WWE SKU (Android 4.4) and then unzipped following in my PadFone’s root folder (sdcard), after disconnecting USB cable from computer, the update procedure not started at all, even no notification appeared.
When I unzipped the downloaded file, (WWE_PadFone2_user_11_8_4_6_UpdateLauncher.zip) following was extracted:
WWE_PadFone2_user_11_8_4_6_UpdateLauncher\ASUS\Update\WW_A68-11.8.4.6-0- ota-user.zip

So, requested to advise which file should copy/cut to which location in my padfone2?
Meanwhile I didn’t download earlier firmware version (V11.8.3.3 for WWE SKU -Android 4.4) and neither any of Kernel codes. Does it required to do so?
It would be highly appreciated, if someone had experienced & help me.

You only need to unzip the file once, as the SOP says. When you have done this, the unzipped product will be a folder. It could be named several things, prob "ASUS" or "Update".

In my case the folder structure was:
"WWE_PadFone2_user_11_8_3_3_UpdateLauncher\ASUS\Update".

Find the folder named Update and copy/cut it into the folder that already exists in the root (Internal storage) on your phone named ASUS. Uplug the USB and you should be prompted to install the update after some seconds.

Ask again if anything i said was unclear.

No, no problems here.

Hi.
Did you try to unzip WWE_PadFone2_user_11_8_4_6_UpdateLauncher.zip
to the root direcory of your internal memory? It should automatically unzip to required directory.

You know what, I will draw it for you

1. Where you have to unzip it and it will "find" required location:
2. Here

(Sorry for local translation, but you get it)

hi there,

I copied (WW_A68-11.8.4.6-0- ota-user.zip) file in every and each possible folder, i.e. sdcard folder, asus folder and once in asus/update folder, and reboot every time, but upgrade procedure not started.
Just an hour ago, I used following method AND FINALLY IT WORKS:
I copied (WW_A68-11.8.4.6-0- ota-user.zip) file in USB flash drive and connected it through OTG cable to my PF2 device. Then switched off the phone, going to recovery mode screen ( by holding & pressing down volume key and then pressing power key), then selecting update from external storage and finding relevant zip file in USB drive, then upgrading started through USB memory.
After rebooting mobile phone and connecting to Pad station, upgrading of Pad station was done automatically.
That was a method which I used and works.

hello from Greece,
i want to do the upgrade to kitkat but i don't want to loose my data. So i found this tool :''asus pc tool'' that makes a full backup to the pc and then restore. I tried to insall it to my pc but the answer was that it is not compatible with my pc. My pc runs Windows XP Pro. Do you have any ideas about it?
Best regards!

Is the WIFI bug actually gone? The bug had to do with the kernel of past Android version. When you were on WIFI and the phone would switch from the first access point to the second (like at schools and offices with huge wifi range) the phone would reboot.

First, I think there is something wrong with this aplication.
There is no backup option, or any advanced settings.

And second, I couldn't find any manuals or instructions for this program. Maybe it's only for Vista, 7, 8...

EDIT: Did you try My Phone Explorer?

Thanks, i didn't know about this.
I guess it's solved. My city has free WiFi. A lot of AP'st all around.
I didn't get any reboots, all day walking around the city.

Finally got my phone and updated my phone to the latest KitKat version.
Very good and solid OS. Only thing annoying me is the instant dictionary. When I put it on "off" it automatically sets back on "on". Anyone know how to perm disable instant dictionary?

If you didn't set up your phone, try to factory reset it. It should solve it.
