I received a new padfone infinity A86 yesterday from Taiwan after booting it up it worked fine, I docked it in the station it worked perfectly but it requested an OTA update I clicked on update even there was no Sim card and then it stopped at a certain percentage, I pulled out the phone and every thing was ok even the update was uncomplete. after several hours I connected it to the internet I tried to apply the OTA update but it failed, after that when docking the phone it works but after a while the station blackout with the backlight on. I thought it was not fully charged since it is the first use. I put it on charge and today I tried the OTA update which was successful but it did not solve my problem. I think the station's firmware update didn't work well and now I get no OTA update message even I wiped data / factory reset. (the OTA was appearing only if I dock the phone into the station) What should I do ? thanks in advance

I don't know wich version that the station was trying to upgrade to but the current version is 116 I flashed the firmware manually yesterday Taiwan version (Factory version) but the thing is there is no OTA update message showing up no more and the station screen still work for several seconds and then it blackout with the backlight on . what I think that the stations firmware did upgrade and there is no fallback
Unfortunately I left the station charging an overnight but no result still no display. Multi Touch, backlight and sound are working. Q: can I flash the PadFone station's firmware only without the phone ?

Hi,
Be sure y-our station is fully loaded, cause I got a similar problem solved by this action.
Maybe the connection cable of the LCD inside the station is broken. If you dare try (at your own risk) to slightly bend the bottom right corner of the station backward or forward. Don't use to much force as you will brake the screen if you do! This helped on my defective Padfone Station to get the screen back working and worked for a month as a workaround for me.
As a funny sidefact, I just today received my NPFI and Station back from asus repair to get this error solved - and another one of the phone.

Hi thanks for the reply, I couldn't take the risk and try what you said but I think I am dealing with a problem that requests a professional's intervention so I'll just ship it back to the seller
Yeah, I got back the station and the NPFI. While the station seems to be fine now (they changed the display) the npfi is already returned on RMA again as it constantly reboots on it's own will. The first time when I was entering my Wifi password during the initial setup phase. I have no idea how it passed any tests at the repair center at all. And as I needed to call Asus support I asked them what they changed on the phone (because it was not distinguishable what was done to which device on their report) they told me "oh, interesting, they changed the mainboard twice and also changed the speaker as the first replacement mainboard was defective". I have no idea why they needed to change the speaker, but I am curious why my NPFI now already housed 3 mainboards and all were defective...
I loved the NPFI for 6 month but am getting more and more annoyed by it lately. I bought an Acer Liquid E700 as I wanted to have a smartphone again and I must admit that it seems to be the much better deal. I already love the 3 to 4 days battery and the three Sim Slots I am not so sure I will switch to the NPFI again when it returns or simply sell it.
