I have trouble with making calls when the phone is paired to a stereo BT headset (Sony SBH20). Outgoing calls end before the other party has answered. No error like number busy or out of reach. Switching off the headset and then calling the same number again works fine.

I'll use my backup phone (stone age Nokia E61i) until next firmware update.

Try this
Put the update in internal storage
Press and hold the Volume Down button, then press the Power key, and keep holding both buttons for a few seconds.
Once you enter the Recovery Menu, release the buttons.

Now press the Power button to enter Download Mode.
Using the Volume keys, navigate to select update from internal storage, then select the update file.
If you had any problem, tell me about it

An update to my video jerkiness playback problem: it seems to be caused by a problem with video hardware acceleration. In those video apps (for example MX Player Pro or VLC beta) which allow switching hardware acceleration on and off playback becomes perfect with acceleration turned off.

abubasim wrote ...

I reported this to Asus when the first KK update came out. They requested screen captures showing the problem, which I provided to them. Here are two samples:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g85yzYSA1TU
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zh21bOglRn4
I captured this using adb - hence portrait mode and the lack of sound. Note the searchlights in the FOX logo and the traffic in the opening scene and how both show the same problem - so it's not a temporary problem due to other apps putting a high load on the phone. I see the same also when playing using MX Player Pro so no difference when choosing video players.

With JB, video playback was flawless - never a hint of even the slightest jerkiness.

The problem may seem small but as video playback was perfect with JB, as I've noticed the problem, I cannot un-notice it now. And showing videos to friends, they point this out immediately.

(Most of my 1080p movies are purchased from iTunes and decrypted using Requiem so I can watch on all my devices.)

Hi

just got one of the last new NPFI available as an upgrade from a Padfone 2. It has the worst JB version I have ever encountered on it (4.2.2, what were they thinking!) but the upgrade to KK on the PF2 had some undesirable effects (camera was terrible, slow response on apps etc in comparison with the PF2 on JB, I had another one to compare against). Whilst the JB version is shockingly bad I have enjoyed using some of the old features again and the case for an upgrade to KK is not clear cut.

So my question is what are the down sides to the KK upgrade on the NPFI (specifically 11.2.5.26) have they fixed SD card storage issue? etc. Can anyone supply or point me in the direction of a pro's & con's list?

Thanks

They have fixed almost all of the bugs except battery drain. Update is definitely a YES.
SD card issue has to do with Google itself and Android OS (Kit Kat) (a patent battle between Google and Microsoft), You could easily fix it by installing SD fix from play store.

And BTW latest firmware is 11.2.5.30
