Hm, IMHO it heavily depends on the usage scheme. My Padfone (w/o tablet) works for 2-3 days in the "phone mostly" mode: several calls per day (10-20 min in total) + several check of weather/e-mails per day. WiFi/BT is mostly off. On the other hand it last for a couple of hours only if navigating + playing music or a bit longer if websurfing.
I'm just coming from a Galaxy Note and its huge battery. One thing I remember is this summer the issue with the official ROM update that prevent the use of the CPU state called Deep Sleep.
I checked on my PadFone with Better Battery and this Deep Sleep state is never reached...
I noticed that the Phone needs some charging cicle to reach a good battery life...Yesterday with some SMS playing Temple Run for more than 10 times some calls for about 10 minutes and I go from 100% at 8 AM at 73% at 12PM...I use only 2g network and yesterday is the first day that i have this results...Today at 8 AM I'm at 90% and now I'm at 72... Before this 2 days I have a battery consumption of about 50%...
You could try to use the energy saving settings, but be warned: some of the settings are buggy from time to time. I have set the power profile, the display timeout and the display brightness only and that works reliably. Gives you a few more percent of battery life.
It should last no more than a day, just get used to the idea.
If that's true, I'll have to say goodbye to this wondeful product that is the PadFone paltform. In pure GSM mode, any other smartphone will reach at minimum 3 or 4 days.
My Galay Notes is able to keep it more than a full week.
Hey, my old Nokia phone holds at least two weeks. Any other you say, well that means logically that if I know of any other phone that consumes the battery as fast as a padfone your argument would be false. How about galaxy s2, same battery life as my padfone, HTC one x, same thing, although in certain situations you can get the iphone to last 4 days. Live long and prosper! And the galaxy note is a joke. Phablets are too big.
You may have bad reception too. My battery would get taxed more than usual în Italy because networks were awful. If your phone can't take one full day of GSM use I would ask for suport. Maybeit is a faulty battery. If not try setcpu and underclock the phone. If you go to 750 mhz performance is still acceptable.
- GSM only : around 27h - GSM + data : around 15h - GSM + wifi only : around 19h
My initial thought was based on my past phones and their CPU states. A bug in one of the Galaxy Note ROM prevent the CPU to reach the Deep Sleep state: battery drain became awful. Next quick release fixed this and the battery was back to normal usage.
According to Better Battery for example, my PadFone has CPU frequency: - 98.7% of the time at 384Mhz - 1.1% at 1.51Ghz The rest is few seconds to different frequency between those, but NEVER the Deep Sleep state.
I'll try to ask for other phones stats but are you all in that case with the PadFone or just mine (which will explain my concerns)
