Not too happy about that announcement then. Sorry to say that I don't believe that promise, or that we will see 4.3 anytime soon. I want to believe in the Padfone2, but now I am beginning to regret my decision!
My son's own phone turned into a brick within weeks and is still with Asus. He has been without a phone for 4 weeks!
Asus even tried to refuse repair as the phone was sourced in Taiwan, despite their Global Warranty. I can't see the likes of Samsung treating their customer's this way.
The global warranty tab used to be shown on the Padfone2 page, but I see that it thas now disappeared. This item like most mobiles is sold globally, so a warranty should be valid anywhere!
My son has now been told that the fault is designated customer induced to the usb (sic) port, even though only the official charger and cable has been used. They now want 394 euros for the repair and 60 euros to return. They respond to detailed emails with a 2 or 3 line response and answer none of the queries. Customer satisfaction appears to be at the bottom of their priorities.
Although my own Padfone2 is still functioning, I severely regret my purchase and dread anything happening to it. I personally will never purchase another Asus product again.

That's very bad... 400 euros for repairs is just absurd! Get him a Nexus 4
Just called the service number in Australia and after checking my serial number they explained the warranty is local only, and given that my phone was shipped from Taiwan, it has to go back to that centre. The faults I have affect the phone only, so my PF2 will now be relegated to being a tablet only. Bloody expensive tablet mind you... but I refuse to pay shipping to Taiwan and back for warranty-related repairs.
